There’s something different about experiencing a product beyond the bottle.
On Tuesday, August 25, Sunday Salon welcomed the Davines team into our Raleigh salon for an interactive Essential Haircare sensory experience, inviting our clients and team to slow down, smell, touch, explore, and learn more about what goes into many of the products we use behind the chair every day.
The experience gave us a closer look at Davines Essential Haircare—not simply through what each product does for the hair, but through the ingredients, places, fragrances, and ideas behind each collection.
Bringing Davines Essential Haircare to Life
If you’ve visited Sunday Salon, you’ve likely already experienced Davines during your appointment. Their products live throughout our salon and are used by our hairstylists across cutting, styling, color, scalp care, and finishing.
But this experience asked a different question: what’s actually behind those products?
The sensory installation transformed the Essential Haircare collections into something you could experience firsthand. Ingredients were displayed alongside the products they inspire, with everything from buckwheat and lupin seeds to apricot, green coffee, white hibiscus, and other distinctive ingredients represented throughout the collection.
Clients could move through the display, smell the different fragrances, explore ingredients and their origins, and learn how each Essential Haircare family was created with a particular hair need and intention in mind.
It was part education, part sensory discovery, and a chance to see familiar products from an entirely new perspective.
Learning From the Davines Team
We were especially excited to welcome Julie Perez, Davines North American Brand Manager, and Lisa McGee, Davines East Coast Education Manager, to Sunday for the experience.
They were joined by Eric Elmore, our local Davines representative through Prestige, who works closely with our salon and team.
Having them here gave our hairstylists and clients an opportunity to go beyond product recommendations and hear more directly about the philosophy, ingredients, education, and innovation behind Davines.
For us, continuing education isn’t something that only happens in a classroom. It happens through conversations, curiosity, asking better questions, and creating opportunities for our team to keep learning about the products and techniques they work with every day.
And when we can invite our clients into that process too, even better.
Why We Choose Davines at Sunday Salon
There are a lot of professional haircare brands we could use at Sunday. Choosing what earns a place behind our chairs comes down to more than packaging or a product simply smelling good.
Performance matters, of course. But so does the thinking behind it.
Davines has long approached beauty through a broader lens that considers ingredient sourcing, sustainability, product innovation, and the impact beauty can have beyond the salon.
The Essential Haircare collection is one example of that philosophy. Its product families are formulated around specific hair needs while highlighting ingredients sourced through Italy’s Slow Food Presidia network, which helps support agricultural biodiversity and preserve culturally significant plant varieties.
Experiencing those ingredients separately from the finished product made that story feel much more tangible.
The shampoo or conditioner you use at home suddenly has a place, an ingredient, a fragrance, and a reason behind it.
More Than a Product on the Shelf
One of our favorite parts of the day was simply watching people get curious.
Opening the jars. Smelling ingredients. Comparing fragrances. Asking questions. Discovering that a product they already use has an entire story behind it.
Hair appointments can easily become part of a routine—and there’s comfort in that—but we also love creating moments that make the salon feel a little more engaging, educational, and unexpected.
This was one of those moments.
Thank you to Julie, Lisa, Eric, and the entire Davines team for spending the day with us and creating such a thoughtful experience for our team and clients. We loved getting to learn, explore, and share it with everyone who stopped by.
And thank you to everyone who joined us.
Experience Davines at Sunday Salon in Raleigh
You don’t need a special event to experience Davines at Sunday.
Our hairstylists use Davines professional haircare throughout the salon and can help you understand which products make sense for your individual hair, scalp, texture, routine, and goals.
Sometimes the best recommendation isn’t adding five new products to your shelf. It’s understanding what your hair actually needs and finding the right few.
Visit us at Sunday Salon at Raleigh Iron Works for your next haircut, hair color, blowout, scalp experience, or consultation—and ask your stylist about the Davines products they’re choosing for your hair along the way.
Because knowing why something works is part of the experience, too.
