With fall officially here, we’re taking a moment to look back at a memorable season for Sunday Salon: our first summer at Raleigh Iron Works.

We opened our doors in June 2026 and spent the months that followed settling into our new space, welcoming new and familiar faces, continuing our education, connecting with our new neighborhood, and, of course, creating beautiful hair.

From opening day to First Friday, here are a few of the moments that made our first summer at our Raleigh hair salon one to remember.

Opening Our Doors at Raleigh Iron Works

In June, a new chapter for Sunday Salon officially began.

After months of planning, designing, and preparing for the move, we opened the doors to our new home at Raleigh Iron Works. Our salon was thoughtfully designed alongside our architect, Habanero Architecture, with both the client and stylist experience in mind.

The new space gave us room to rethink the Sunday experience, including:

• A dedicated Color Sanctuary
• A separate cutting and styling space
• Reclining Takara Belmont shampoo chairs
• A Self Blow-Dry Station for color clients
• Dedicated space for consultations and education
• Thoughtful details designed to make each visit comfortable and considered

Most importantly, though, the space truly came to life once our team and clients walked through the doors.

Filling the Salon With New + Familiar Faces

Almost immediately, our new space began to feel like Sunday.

Throughout the summer, we welcomed familiar clients who made the move with us along with new faces discovering Sunday Salon for the first time.

Soon, the salon was filled with consultations, color appointments, haircuts, styling, conversations, coffee, and the everyday energy we envisioned when creating the space.

There’s something special about watching a new space become a familiar one.

Beautiful Hair, All Summer Long

Of course, at the center of everything we do is the work behind the chair.

Our stylists and colorists spent the summer creating hair that reflects each client’s individual needs, preferences, and goals. From subtle seasonal refreshes to larger transformations, every appointment begins with thoughtful consultation and a personalized approach.

Throughout the season, our team worked across services including dimensional color, balayage, highlights, lived-in color, precision haircuts, curly haircuts, extensions, grey blending, and more.

Continuing Our Education

At Sunday Salon, education doesn’t stop once a stylist begins working behind the chair. Continued learning is part of our culture.

This summer brought new opportunities for our team to gather, learn, refine techniques, and share knowledge with one another. Our new conference and education space at Raleigh Iron Works also gives us a dedicated place to continue that work.

Whether through formal classes, hands-on demonstrations, or conversations between stylists, education helps us continue evolving individually and as a team.

Experiencing Davines Through the Senses

In August, we welcomed our Davines partners into the salon for a Davines Sensorial Experience.

Together, we explored the products, ingredients, sourcing, and philosophy behind a brand we use every day. The experience highlighted several Davines families, including MINU, NOUNOU, LOVE Curl, and OI, while giving our team an opportunity to experience the products through scent, texture, and touch.

More importantly, education like this allows our team to better understand why we use the products we do and make more thoughtful recommendations for our clients.

Associate Stylist Model Classes

Meanwhile, Mondays became an important part of the week for our Associate Stylists.

Our Associate Stylist Model Classes create space for hands-on learning, guided practice, and continued growth behind the chair.

Working directly with models allows our developing stylists to strengthen their consultation skills, refine techniques, gain experience, and build confidence with support from Sunday’s educators and experienced stylists.

It’s an important part of how we invest in the next generation of stylists at Sunday Salon.

Celebrating Our First First Friday

Our first summer at Raleigh Iron Works wasn’t limited to what happened inside the salon.

In August, we joined the larger RIW community for our first First Friday, welcoming visitors into Sunday and celebrating the evening with Sunday x Davines giveaway baskets.

It was one of our first opportunities to experience Raleigh Iron Works not simply as our new address, but as our new neighborhood.

Since moving, getting to know our neighbors, participating in events, and becoming part of the growing community at RIW has been one of the most exciting parts of our new chapter.

Celebrating Our Team

There was plenty to celebrate within Sunday, too.

Throughout the summer, we recognized birthdays, anniversaries, professional achievements, and continued growth across our team.

A few especially meaningful moments included celebrating three years with our Salon Manager, Yoshi, as well as an exciting achievement for Jess, who earned a trip to Europe.

These milestones matter because Sunday is ultimately shaped by the people within it. The talent, personalities, education, and dedication of our team are what bring the salon to life each day.

Summer Sips at Sunday

Then there were the little things.

Summer brought seasonal drinks and plenty of familiar favorites to our beverage menu. Clients enjoyed everything from cappuccinos and fountain Cokes to our Limoncello Slushie and Sarti Rosa Spritz.

They may be small details, but they’re intentional ones.

We want an appointment at Sunday to feel like time you can genuinely enjoy, whether that means settling in with an espresso, trying the seasonal cocktail, or simply slowing down for a few hours.

Just one season after opening our doors, Raleigh Iron Works already feels like home.

This summer brought a lot of firsts: our first clients in the new space, our first First Friday, new education opportunities, team milestones, new relationships, and countless appointments behind the chair.
